Architectural piece turned shelf
I bought this piece at a yard sale this Summer for $5, planning on using it on the outside of the new garage. After the addition was done the wall looked so big to me and I remember seeing on DIY where they had put one of these pieces on as a fireplace mantle. So I thought why not a shelf on the wall (imagine how excited the hubby was when I mentioned this idea :) NOT) He kept telling me it would be way too big, not to be detured I went out and got the piece when he was gone and low and behold it was just right. Which when he came in he did say "wow I'm surprised it does look about right." YES SCORE!
So after the painting and stenciling he put a weathered board on it for me and attached it to the wall. And I love it!! And I love my hubby for putting up with all my ideas. :)
Now it is the perfect spot for my mercury glass!

My new to me living room
We have been remodeling here at our house. We put on a garage, foyer and addition to our living room. I knew I wanted an accent wall in the living room but wasn't sure what. I love my damask wall in the dining room and kept thinking about doing that in there.
I looked for wall stencils because part of it is cathedral. I found the stencil I liked and then chose metallic paint to stencil with. I just love it, it has a beautiful sheen at night with the lights on or candles lit.
That blue electrical box is just a reminder I would love a sconce for that wall :) I might come up with an invention until then though, we'll see lol
At night I am trying to show the sheen at night it shows up some in the pic. I will post about the decor later.

Burlap Placemats
I wanted to do something different this year for my Thanksgiving dinner instead of chargers. So I bought some burlap and cut rectangles and then fringed the edges. I then took my chandelier stencil and stenciled on each placemat.

Fall table arrangement
I have been absent lately to the blogging world because of the building projects around here. Fun, but messy and hectic :). We are fininshing up the addition to our living room. I will post pics when it is done. I have done some fall decorating though, not much but some. Here is my table arrangement.
Everything is from Goodwill except the sunflower that is from HObby Lobby. I love deals :)

Rose Petal Chandelier in the making
Okay I am attempting to make a rose petal chandelier (pinterest again) :) I told you I was addicted. I hot glued nine rose petals together and then glued them around three different sizes of embroidery hoops. I still have some tweaking to do the fish line I used was too light. I am waiting on the hubby to find his heavier line. Then it will look more graduated. It is going to hang in my bathroom but I want to put rosettes and ribbon and maybe some bling on it yet. I'll take a pic of the final product when its done. The petals I got at the dollar store. So it only cost a couple of dollars.

Burlap and Lace tablerunner
I was on pinterest (which I am addicted too) and found a burlap and lace table runner and thought I would love to make one for my antique dough table.
It was so easy to make. I had it done in a half hour. I had the lace already and the rosettes my daughter had made and left for me :) So my only cost was the burlap which I got at hobby lobby half off. The project cost me $2.49 EXCITING!

My Fall Wreath
I was looking for a fall wreath and did not like the prices of the ones I found. So I started looking on pinterest and found a square one. I knew I had to make it!!!
I just used a square picture frame and covered it with dollar store leaves (gotta love that dollar store). It was a fun and inexpensive project. I just doubled my ribbon and hung it on my screen door.

Some Fall Decorating
It doesn't seem like Summer should be over. I started my Fall decorating. This is my mantle. I added a leaf garland and kept my Hydrangeas in the vase they still have good color. I added some putka pods and acorns and leaves to my jars. The candle holders were silver and I spray painted them a cram and added two votives to them. Later on I will put a little pumpkin on top of each one instead of the votives, I am just waiting for my little pumpkins to get the right color.
My porch post in the living room. This is about all I can do in there as we are remodeling and knocking out a wall soon (Lord willing) so I know everything will be down for that but in the mean time I have to pretty it up. :) I glittered my crow after this pic it just made him look more like he belonged at my house.

How I am trying to blend in the TV
When I came home from my vacation my hubby had bought a new tv, bigger than the 22" on e we had (which personally I still thought was to big). I just hate trying to fit a black tv around my decor. He put the bigger tv on the same shelf as the smaller one.. Some of my pics and shelves around it were all sitting diagonal lol but he was so proud he made it fit there. :) Here is the before
And I had this vintage wicker firepalce screen hidden away hoping to be able to use it someday. I was trying to figure out how to hide the cords and the little black boxes and I think this works great.
Well I did straighten a few things (was driving me nuts :)) This is the after

Bead Board flower hanger
I had this idea in mind for quite a while I had seen it all over blog land. I got out a piece of our vintage bead board and cut it to the size I wanted.
And then painted it the color I wanted (or had on hand I should say)
I just dry brushed it on I wanted it to look worn. I then added hooks and intend to add glass knobs to the middle ones but all I had for now is a couple little nails, but that will do until I find some knobs I like.
I hung two old milk glass bottles on with some old lace. One of my vintage aprons and one of my four blue Hydrangeas I am drying. Hope you like it. I do.

Thrift store redo
I found this at the thrift store and I loved the barn wood thick frame. I knew I could do something with it to fit my decor, it just had to sit and stare at me for a while :).
I painted the frame white and let some of the brown underneath show through. Then I just added a pretty pink piece of scrap book paper and then added two rose decals. I love how it turned out.

Ruffling the bedroom
Ruffling I am not sure if that's a word :) I have been trying to redo my bedroom some. It was painted a soft pink (I know I have a wonderful hubby) It was a color I chose when I was tired and we were trying to just get things done and get in the house, not a good idea to choose colors you have to live with at that point. Anyways I painted two of the walls this week a very light gray. And then I made a ruffled thingy for the end of the bed just for decoration. Then I made some ruffled pillow shams all in white. I found the large gray rose pillow at Homegoods in VA and the small pillow I found at a thrift store in Va. I want to make a white ruffled shade for the window yet.
Now I am onto trying to start other projects that are in my head and have to get to my hands :) in between canning tomatoes and company coming. This summer has been busy and going way too fast.

I'm Back and Ruffled Shower Curtain
I have been on vaca for a couple of weeks and then coming home I needed a vaca from vaca :). I had my granddaughter for a week after I came home so I have been busy. But while I was away I found lots of projects to do while thrift shopping. I have been trying to get busy and getting them done. And in between all of this we are building garage and then an addition on our house, which we desperately need, we have a very small house.
My first project I wanted to get done was a ruffled shower curtain.
I just bought a shower curtain at the thrift store and washed it, and then added ruffles to it. I cheated and just bought a ruffled bed skirt and cut the ruffle off and then sewed them on where I wanted. It's simple but I like it. It really brightened up the space.

My Flowers
I am sooooo excited to have flowers this year!! It has been a couple of years since I have had any with moving a couple of times. I have prayed these Hydrangeas to grow and produce :) and the Lord blessed me this year, did I mention I am excited lol.
Now I can pick from my flower garden and put vases all over the house which makes me smile every time I look at a bouquet.

Made over porch post
I found this porch post at a yard sale and knew I could do something with it. I cut the top part off, I know I hated doing it but I wanted it to fit in my house. I put a base on it and attached a bird house on the top. It still needed something, because I put it in a corner I wanted it to have light. So I put an electric candle in it.
I had an old garden gate laying outside that I cleaned up and put on the front and decorated that. I hung a metal cone from the front and put roses in it.
This is fun to decorate for the seasons I always put something different inside the birdhouse. Snowman for winter, pumpkin for fall and a bunny for Easter :)

Re purposed bottles
These are some bottles I had picked up for .49 at the thrift store. I wanted to add something to them. I found a graphic I liked online and printed them off. And antiqued it. Then I mod podged them on and tied some lace aroound the tops and some ribbon. One I added some bling too.
And the other one I just used the lace and ribbon:
I do love them for hold little flower bouquets.

Re purposed books
I have been seen the re purposed books all over blog land and have been dying to make some. I just wasn't sure how I wanted to do them. I thought about painting them or just leave them without a cover and then decorate. But then I went to Michaels and seen this wonderful pink flocked paper and in my favorite print damask. Of course I could not resist.
First I ripped off the covers of two books I had gotten at a thrift store. And then I traced and glued the paper onto the top book.
And then I put some tea dyed vintage lace I had and some ribbon and tied it around the books. And then I added some bling.
I thought it looked so pretty but I had a silk rose I thought I might add too.
I really love how this turned out. Now I will have to make some for my daughters in their colors. I'll show you updates as I get them done.
