Repurposed valances

I was searching for  some sheer fabric to make some new valances for my dining room.  Then I realized I had some sheers hanging in the guest room and I wanted to redo that room anyway so why not steal the panels from in there and make my new valances.  So I did :) I started cutting, when my hubby walked in he started to say why are you cutting up perfectly good curtains he only got out the why and then said I'm not going to ask. He is soo good lol.  After I made a mess I sewed a pocket for each rod and then I sewed two different poofs I wanted them to look a little ruffled and poofy so I sewed the poofs together and then just tucked up and in wherever I wanted more poof.
The I had my darling daughter from http://www.frugallymindedhomemaker.com/ make me some rosettes to put on them.. She made me three very large ones and then put a small pearl in the center of each one. They made them look so pretty.
My daughter has her link for her etsy shop where she sells these and other types of rosette projects on her blog.

My Baby Birds

I had to show you my baby birdies (okay not technically mine but I like to think partially since they are in my tree :).  This is a family of three robins.  It is so fun to sit under the tree and watch her take care of them.  I think she has gotten used to us being there because it doesn't seem to bother her anymore when we are out there.

DIY Mantle

This is my DIY fireplace. This was originally from an old home in another state (can't remember where now) a friend of mine came back with it and it was all beat up She had gotten it out of a house ready to be torn down.  When it first came my hubby looked at me and said "you've got to be kidding me, that thing looks terrible" but my friend and I had a vision.   And of course my hubby was sooo happy to help lol.  He ripped it down the middle so she could have half and I could have half.:).  Then we each did what we wanted to each of ours.  I painted mine cream colored and added two spindles to the front.  I added some corner trim  to the opening.   I ordered a decal off from the internet and put that on the front.
He (he being my oh so happy to help hubby) added a deeper board to the top so I could put all sorts of things on the top. :)  I then decorate it differently at different times of the seasons.  Right now I have some vintage lace hanging from the edge and some green pearls.  I also have a prism hanging from the middle of each strand.  I have moved this with me three times now.  I love it, it is so fun to decorate.

More Outside Decor

This is Mr. Bunny hiding by the birdbath. Guarding my Zinnia seeds I had just planted. :)

I needed to show we are patriotic in the household. :)   I have a son-in-law deployed right now.  I took an old porch post cut in half and put it on a base and then white washed it and attached a birdhouse.  To the top and I wanted to add a  lantern.  I took a hook, I had added it to the front and hung my lantern on it.  The I drilled holes in the side of the post to put my two flags in.

Some Outside Decorating

I did some outside decorating over the weekend.   This little table is on my porch.  I love geraniums, I remember when I was younger my sister in law and I always said we will be old ladies when we like geraniums, guess what I must be old LOL
This is my little girl :) I got at a yard sale for two dollars a couple weeks ago.  I was so excited!!  Not many blooms on anything yet except my coral bells and columbines, hopefully soon the others will open up and give me color.
That's my Hydrangea in the background it has tons of buds on it this year.  I pray for this plant every year to give me lots of blooms.

Summer decorating cont...

I am taking this week to finish up my summer decorating inside.  This is my coffee table.  I use a bench painted a soft yellow.   My friend made me the box on the top of the bench for my birthday years ago.  It's an old sewing machine drawer and she added the applique on the front.  I just love it!!! I added some dried hydrangeas I had left over from last year (praying for many more this year) :)  I then set two of my vintage creamers beside it.  I love old creamers especially if they have roses on them.

I don't do a lot of decorating for fourth of July.  But I love this tag I received when I ordered my other ones, this was a surprise from Bluebird Lane through Etsy.

My Refuge

This is where I love to sit and have my devotions or just sit and relax.  Right under the tree.  Which by the way I have an update on that.  As we were sitting there having dinner the other night my hubby remarked, "I'm glad I didn't chop this tree down it is a really nice shade tree" :) Guess it's staying!

Plus I get to watch the birdies from here and they are building there nests and chirping away.  God has blessed me.

Summer decoration on my dough table

I am getting some summer decorating done on the inside.  There are not many flowers out in my garden yet, but I did have the flowers from my  coral bells and cranesbill geraniums.  They look so delicate in my wire flower container.  I have some faux cookies that I had just gotten from Rose petals and Rust.  They are so beautiful, I put them in one of my decorative jars.  I think I need to order some pink ones now :)
I have some gorgeous tags that I found on etsy in the tall jar.  They have bluebirds and roses on them. my two favorites.  All on my ruffled table runner and under that my vintage dough table that I use as my island.

I added another nest tag on the top of the tall jar, it is in aqua and so pretty.
