My repurposed bowl into vessel sink

For our anniversary my husband was going to make me a vessel sink.  I just had to find the bowl I wanted to use.  That took me two months because I am too cheap to pay two hundred for a metal bowl when I always see cool ones at Goodwill or Salvation Army stores (until I am actually looking for one).  This pic is my before, not pretty the sink is plastic and had melted spots on it and the faucet was nasty.  Excuse my mess please :)

I finally found a hammered metal bowl at a thrift store for .95 cents I was thrilled.  My hubby built me a butcher block top and stained it in a dark walnut and added the bowl and new faucet.  I am not sure wether I will paint the vanity bottom or not yet.  If you have an idea let me know. :)

What a wonderful husband I have !!

A Corner of the room

This is a corner of my bedroom.  I am trying to do the rustic with the elegant mix.  I used an old door I had stored in our shed and added chicken wire to it and used some little clothespins to hang some old lace and old pics I had and other little things.  I hung an old lace scarf I had found at the Salvation Army store.  I found an old mirror at Goodwill and spray painted it the same metallic color as the stenciled wall.  I then took a large jar and filled it with some of my lace and then added a bouquet of silk flowers.  (Note to self when you take a pic of a mirror it will show you in your pjs :))

My Bedroom Reveal

This is one photo of the bedroom redo.  You can see how the stenciled wall has a sheen to it.  I need to take some more pics of different angles.  But I just wanted to let you know that it is almost finished :)  I like how it all turned out.  At first I was fretting it :).

I will post more pics later of the different decor I used.   I tried to put some rustic in with the elegance to sort of balance it out  (and to help the hubby feel better).  I actually am very lucky in that area he lets me decorate any way I want to as long a s I am happy he says :).

DIY Material Shade

Here is another part of my bedroom redo.  I bought a cheap vinyl pull down shade and measured my fabric I used about a yard.  Put it up to my shade to determine where to cut the shade at.  I then cut the shade and just hot glued (love my glue gun :)) my fabric onto the last inch of the shade, and then took the stick that is supposed to weigh the shade down on the bottom of the material and doubled it over the stick and hot glued it again.

I really like all the greys and creams together.

DIY Sheet Music Wreath

As I mentioned before I have been redoing our bedroom, trying for a more elegant romantic feel.  I stenciled the walls in a metallic paint  and then I wanted something a little more rustic to add to all the glam of the wall.  I found this wreath idea on Pinterest.   I love how it turned out and it added just the right touch to the wall to sort of tone it down.  This is right above our headboard and it literally took my hubby just two weeks to look up and say "did you add something different to the wall?"   He did say he liked it! LOL

Grain sack towel turned cushion

I needed a cushion for my dresser turned bench.  I put this in front of my big window in the dining I was searching for material and then remembered I had this vintage grainsack towel my mom in law had given me years ago.  It was the perfect size for the bench.  I added ruffles to the ends ( I know, no surprise :))  But I do like how it turned out!

DIY drum shade

I am trying to make my bedroom more romantic looking.  It was the last room in the house to get painted and it wasn't what I was hoping for.  So I am starting to redo it. Starting with a new chandelier, from IKEA (love that store) and I wanted to add a drum shade to it.  I started with some chicken wire and formed it in a circle.  Then glued on my material that I got at Joanns on sale.

I Love how it turned out, you know how sometimes what is in your head doesn't always turn out , this did  YEAH!!!

Burlap Art

I am redecorating my guest bath.  I am doing it in some rustic accents with just a little bling thrown in.  I made this out of a vintage picture frame.  Then cut some cardboard and covered it in burlap and put a trim of jute around the edges.  The I took some scrapbooking embellishments and put them on.  I  like it!  I love searching the scrapbooking aisles for stuff to use when decorating.  I'll show the rest of the decorations later.

Ruffled lampshade

I decided to add a little bling to my lampshade.  I am trying to make my bedroom more romantic looking.  I added a ruffle to the top of the shade and ten made a ruffled rosette to the middle and then added a vintage brooch to the center.  Something little, but really made a difference.

My Valentine Mantle

I am starting to do a little Valentine decorating.  I don't do much but I like to fill my jars and put a couple of banners out.  I put this heart banner on my mantle.  I ordered this off of Etsy through a very talented lady.   I love the pastel colors in the banner and the way she has it held together with silk ribbbon.  The images are vintage images that are so sweet.

Sweater Vases

I was wondering what to put in my vases for the Winter.  And while I was Pinteresting :)  I came across sweater vases.  This could not have been a more easy craft to do and fun.  I had a sweater that had a couple of hole in the shoulder and was going to throw it away or make a pillow out of it.
I decided to cut the sleeves off and use them on my vases, I love them.  They seemed a  little bare and I knew they just needed some bling.  I used two vintage brooches that I had.  Glued them on and tied some jute string around the middle.

Here they are on the mantle, I havn't decided wether I am going to tie a bow or just tie the jute around.  So for now I did one of each.
