DIY Mantle

This is my DIY fireplace. This was originally from an old home in another state (can't remember where now) a friend of mine came back with it and it was all beat up She had gotten it out of a house ready to be torn down.  When it first came my hubby looked at me and said "you've got to be kidding me, that thing looks terrible" but my friend and I had a vision.   And of course my hubby was sooo happy to help lol.  He ripped it down the middle so she could have half and I could have half.:).  Then we each did what we wanted to each of ours.  I painted mine cream colored and added two spindles to the front.  I added some corner trim  to the opening.   I ordered a decal off from the internet and put that on the front.
He (he being my oh so happy to help hubby) added a deeper board to the top so I could put all sorts of things on the top. :)  I then decorate it differently at different times of the seasons.  Right now I have some vintage lace hanging from the edge and some green pearls.  I also have a prism hanging from the middle of each strand.  I have moved this with me three times now.  I love it, it is so fun to decorate.
